Fear and Self-image – How are they related?

Most people tend to be fearful of something that they are not familiar with. If they’re anything like me, they’d procrastinate the matter over and over in the head before finally making a decision NOT To conquer the fear.

Why do we not conquer our fear?

What is fear?

Why do we fear?

Firstly, let’s look at what fear means. By definition, fear is an unpleasant emotion caused by the threat of danger, pain, or harm. Abraham describes fear as a distortion between what we consciously want and our existing beliefs. Blaine Bartlett said that “Our body is a living sculpture of our belief systems.”

Combining Abraham with Bartlett’s quotes, we can see that our self-image has been formed by the limitations that we have. If what we want is only in the conscious mind, but not in our existing belief system about ourselves, FEAR strikes.

So what limits us to our image of ourselves?

(Pumpkin in a jug – E Nightingale)

Answer: We have been programmed to extend ourselves only to the limits within the jug. We have been taught to believe that we cannot go beyond the glass jug. Why not? We can see that outside of the jug is infinite possibilities for growth. However, we have been brought up to belief that the glass jug cannot break, so we can never grow larger than the confines of the prison that we’re in.

Perhaps we can learn some lessons from lobsters:

If we can learn to embrace FEAR as a form of growth.

If we can return to our true selves to realise that fear is merely the absence of love, which is the absence of knowing our true selves.

If only we can see that we are connected to the infinite universe, which provides for us what we need just when we need it; that all we need is FAITH and KNOWINGNESS that we are a part of the infinite.

If we just realise that there is no “wrong move” and that all we need to do is to move.

“You, as in any kind of growth, reach a plateau in your life on various levels, where you can only handle and assimilate so much, and that continues until you break through that level and move to a higher level.

You must allow yourself to trust your life force and not second-guess it. Trust your instinct. It is a sum total of your entire existence. It is a vast library of information.” ~ Solomon from “Solomon Speaks”

I challenge you to take on a different meaning to FEAR. I now adopt fear as Face Everything Accept Responsibility. Don’t run away. Take it in your stride. Fear is a good thing: it means that we have reached a plateau and we’re moving on the next plateau. Remember, trusting your instinct means to trust your intuition. It means to trust that your true self, your higher self – that which is connected to infinite. The infinite universe lives WITHIN you and contains all the knowledge that you will EVER NEED to keep growing and expanding yourself.

Limitation and growth go hand-in-hand.

Our joy is in the action we take to overcome our limitations, in overcoming our obstacles.
