The Absence of Evidence is NOT the Evidence of Absence

What is evidence?

What is real?

What if reality is as per Anita’s suggestion, that is is merely the result of our beliefs? Do you then question your beliefs? How would you be able to question your beliefs if you’re not even aware that you have habits, paradigms and beliefs that have shaped you to become the person that you are right now? William James made a similar suggestion, telling us to “believe, and our belief will create the fact.”

So what is belief? Belief is an acceptance that something exists or is true, especially one without proof.

Proof is evidence or argument establishing a fact or the truth of a statement.

Over the last few weeks, I have come to the same conclusion as Bob Proctor: we all have 2 sets of beliefs, one on the conscious level and the other on the subconscious level. What we believe on the conscious level can be very different to what we believe on the subconscious level, bearing in mind also that it is the subconscious mind that controls the body’s actions to produce the results that we “see for ourselves”. What a person says does not always correspond with what the person does. Therein lies the problem of why we do not see validation of our belief (on a conscious level) in its physical form.

If we dissect the definition of the word belief, we see that it is a verb. It requires our action. Dr Thurman Fleet’s stickperson diagram shows the body as an instrument of the mind. This means that what we see on the physical plane is a result of the belief held by the subconscious mind. The only way to change the subconscious mind is via emotions/vibrations, from the conscious mind to the subconscious mind. The body is controlled through emotions/vibrations, NOT through ideas or thoughts.

Reality is defined as the state of things as they actually exist, as opposed to an idealistic or notional idea of them.

Existence is the fact or state of living or having objective reality.

Fact is a thing that is known or proved to be true.

Truth is that which is true or in accordance with fact or reality.

The issue here is that fact, truth, existence and reality are all tied to our view of a given situation. We are all gifted with the mental faculty of perception, allowing us to have varying viewpoints of a single situation. Our viewpoints are our conscious belief about the situation, but how we behave and act relate to how we react or respond to that particular situation based on our subconscious programming.

This is why a person tends to see what they TRULY believe in, on a subconscious level, and NOT on a conscious level. Validation is the most common form of evidence that we seek to satisfy ourselves that what we believe is the truth. James Allen said, “Environment is but our looking glass” and he is correct because we tend to only see what we really believe in on a deep, subconscious level.

The absence of the evidence that you seek is not necessarily evidence of absence. We need to understand WHY is it that we’re not seeing evidence of what we seek and how we can change so that we DO see that which we are after. It all begins with an understanding of who you are, working in correlation with the laws of the universe to awaken and empower yourself to take the lead in your own life. God/ the universe never meant for us to be victims of our circumstances. As Anita said, “The universe is within us and what we experience externally is only a reflection.”
